IMPACT supported Twala women group to attend the event as they showcased their beadwork project along side other resilient rural livelihoods. Also supported by IMPACT was Nanyuki Arts Theatre group who performed a skit to inform necessary steps for action towards climate change and Disater Risk Management.During the two days' Symposium several issues were discussed including but not limited to; the need to have bottom-top approach on Disaster Risk Management (DRM) policies,synergy between civil society organizations and governmental departments towards holistic Integrated Risk Management (IRM).
The Director National Disaster Operation Centre Ministry of Interior and Coordination of National Government Col. Rtd Charles Owino was among the goverment officials who graced the celebrations and he emphasized that the government will ensure mapping out of risk areas and prepare hazard maps which can be used for planning so that preventive measures can be taken.
